Exploring the Trades: A Look at the “Try a Trade” Event

Are you looking for future employees? The demand for skilled tradespeople continues to rise. We have the opportunity now for you to start that pipeline of competent roofing professionals. Be at Wenatchee Valley College on October 4, 2024, at 9am for their “Try a Trade” event. Serving middle and high schoolers who are contemplating future career paths, now is the time to introduce them to a future in the roofing industry.
You will discover talent early, showcase your expertise and give back to not only the roofing industry but also the community. This is a hands-on event where you will safely let students pound nails into a variety of roofing materials, have them touch and feel products, fit them with your safety gear and talk to them about safety on a roof, have them design a roof, have them safely climb a ladder, teach them how to estimate the cost of a roof, have them fly a drone over a roof, etc. We even have internal jobs such as receptionist, office manager, sales manager, etc. Students these days will come to your booth if you have items like a small roof to pound nails, a ladder, drones, etc. Teach them that the roofing industry is a lucrative trade to be involved in.
The Roofing Industry Association of Washington (RCAW) is very excited that you have the opportunity to demonstrate hands-on expert roofing talent to future roofing professionals. Teach them and they will remember you and come to you for a job. If we do not attend these events and teach students about our industry, you will not have anyone to hire. It is only one day.
